Today’s guest grew up in Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory, Australia. She did correspondence lessons with Katherine School of the Air. When she got older, she moved to the big smoke, studied graphic design, drew a picture of a penguin and became a children’s book illustrator. Her latest book is the hilarious Mary Had a Little Lamb. What Really Happened. The real story behind the nursery rhyme.
She’s popped in to tell us all about her book, what the process was like, what she’s learned, kick back with a taco, and have a chin wag about all things kids books. Ladies and Gentlemen, please give it up for Natashia Curtin. Woo-hoo!
We talk about the art of illustrating picture books, how to bring movement in to your illustrations, what editors expect and ways to learn your craft.
